Financed legal assistance:
If you have a low income and are not able to pay for the hourly fee of an attorney, you can apply for financed legal assistance by an attorney ("toevoeging"). VA-lawfirm files a request with the Council for financed legal assistance (Raad voor Rechtsbijstand). This council takes the decision to allow or deny financed legal assistance. However, you always have to pay a certain contribution, depending on your income.

Other costs:
The financed assistance only applies to lawyer fee's. Other fee's, such as griffierecht, costs of an extract, etc, you will have to pay yourself. If you have an attorney based on financed legal assistance, you will have to pay legal costs (mostly from the opposing party and the court) when stated in a verdict (and mostly when the case is lost).
