→ Asylum / Refugee.
When someone applies for asylum in the Netherlands, because that person's life is in danger in their own country and their government is not able to protect them, a whole other procedure starts. The refugee will be interviewed at a hearing. VA can respond to the story of that client and, should the IND (immigration service) take a negative decision, VA can file an objection petition, both in first instance and in appeal at the national Court.
In some specific cases, VA can file a complaint at the European Court of Human Rights in Strassbourg, which resulted in positive decisions (Interim Measures) so far.
VA is a member of the WRV.
